Lord Shiva as Digambara

"Lord Shiva, the representation of the Divine Consciousness, is also called 'Digambara' as he is often depicted as a naked ascetic. His nakedness is not to be read into literally for it bears a more significant message than just being a man without clothing. Consciousness is naked. There is no way to envelop consciousness. Consciousness, Atma, or what you call the Divine Energy field is all-pervasive and no form can ever clothe it. It is only the mind of Man that is tricked into perceiving that Consciousness can be contained."
